Our Story

Alfred and Margaret Guggisberg came to the United States in the 1940s to make cheese. Alfred attended the prestigious Der Molkereischule Zurrannt in Switzerland to become a master cheesemaker. Using his combined experience in cheese making, he worked on a cheese that would better suit the American taste. Alfred created a cheese now known as Baby Swiss. Today, Richard Guggisberg, son of Alfred and Margaret, a grand master cheese maker, has perfected the art of cheese making. Eric Guggisberg, son of Alfred and Margaret, also a grand master cheese maker, and his wife Julia have coupled the cheese with wine made from generations of recipes handed down. " Too much work, and no vacation

deserves at least a small libation.

So hail!  my friends and raise your glasses,

works the curse of the drinking classes."
